Okay, gang, we need people to test our new iPhone App!
You need: an iPhone or an iPod Touch
Here's a brief description of the app:

TuneCore Discover Music allows you to listen, share or buy the top 25 selling songs from TuneCore customers.
Listen to the top 25 best selling Rock, Pop, Alternative, HipHop or R&B songs by location - just enter your zip code or let the iPhone do it for you! Also check out the national TuneCore Top 25 Billboard Chart.

For those that would like to participate as testers we MUST HAVE your iPhone IDs by end of day Monday (5PM Eastern).
Only those with iPhone or iPhone touches can participate.
To participate as a tester:
STEP 1: Find your iPhone or iPod Touch's device ID by going here:
http://blog.rightsprite.com/2008/10/finding-your-iphone-or-ipod-touch.html
STEP 2: EMAIL your device ID to peter@tunecore.com before 5:00pm Eastern on Monday, February 9, 2009 (don't forget to include your name and return email address).
STEP 3: We will then email you the app as a zip.
STEP 4: You will need to unzip the app, drag it onto the icon of iTunes, then synch their phone with it to get the app installed on the phone. There will also be further instructions.
Okay gang, we need ten volunteers, fast! It's an AMAZING app, come join the fun!

Peter,
Is this localized data going to be leveraged on the website too? While this is a cool feature and the iPhone has a lot of buzz, realistically only a small % of the population owns one...I'd love to see this data/charts even though I don't have an iPhone.
It would be a good promotional tool as well...to say you were a top seller in a certain state or city...will this be available to use more broadly? Like a city, state, or zip search via the website or a widget?

No idea yet, Nacho, still in testing phase. We figure, get it working first, see what happens next, then go from there!

Sounds good.
It seems that the data will need to be online and queryable for the iPhone app anyways, which means that you should be able to leverage the same database for a simple web version without much problem.
Localized charts would be a big value add for indie artist promotions.
